Memorials of North Fort

The Defence of Sydney Memorial - This was erected by the Warringah Australia Remembers Trust in 1995 in honour of all those who served in the defence of Sydney during World War II. It was funded by the Commonwealth and built by the volunteer members of the Royal Australian Artillery Historical Company. Every year there is a service organized by the Trust on the anniversary of the attack on Sydney by the Japanese midget submarines. This takes place on the observation platform adjacent to the memorial.

Australia’s Memorial Walk - The Memorial Walk is in honour of any Australian who has served in the defence of Australia in peace or in war. A series of five monuments link the pathway, constructed with pavers donated by friends, families, relatives, local organizations, clubs and corporations, recognizing their own or relatives’ military service.

This pathway of remembrance was first developed in 1994 as a walking track around the periphery of the Royal Australian Artillery National Museum. Construction of the present Memorial Walk commenced in 1999 and is still underway with some of the monuments yet to be completed. One of the benefits of the Walk is that it generates funds for the maintenance and development of the Museum. Should you wish to participate in this historic project, it's not too late.

For a donation of $50 your personally inscribed paver will become part of this historic walkway, ensuring future generations are forever reminded of those who defended this great land of ours. Corporations, sporting clubs, local business and community groups are also invited to donate a Corporate paver. For further information regarding donating pavers to the Memorial Walk, please call 9976 6102 during business hours

(9am – 5pm, Tuesday to Friday).
